Frequently Asked Questions

How is Spectrum Soap manufactured? All of our bars are made in small batches by hand, using the Cold Process method. Liquid and solid oils are combined with sodium hydroxide (lye) which causes a chemical reaction and turns into soap! Although lye is a chemical, it is the necessary catalyst which makes our bars harden. Never fear, though! Once the soap has finished curing (4-6 weeks), every trace of lye has saponified and the chemical no longer exists. Fun fact: did you know that some foods are also processed with lye?
Where can I find information about the donations given by Spectrum Soap? We will update our website on a quarterly basis, showing where the donations were given. Our goal is to spread the donations across multiple non-profit agencies. If you would like to recommend an ASD-related non-profit for future donations, please share with us on the Comment Form!
Do you manufacture soap for specific skin issues? While we don’t specifically cater to different skin needs, rest assured that there are no harsh chemicals used in our ingredients. The colorings and fragrances used are sourced only from ethically sound companies, lab tested, and are never used in excess of the IFRA Maximum Skin Exposure Level recommendations. We also offer unscented soap, for those who do not wish to take the risk.
I am not satisfied with my purchase. What is your refund policy? We do not accept returns, but please let us know how we can make it right! We value your business and welcome your feedback on how we can improve for the next time. Please send us your grievance via the Contact Form and we will respond in a timely manner to resolve the issue.
What is the size of the bars? Our bars begin the curing process at approximately 4.5 ounces. Water will evaporate throughout the drying process, leaving the finished product at approximately 3.75 ounces and 3”L, 3.5”H, 1”W. Because our soaps are handcrafted, these weights, dimensions, and colors may vary—no two bars are identical.
